Level 1: INADEQUATE: Highly likely to need support for the next grade

Level 2: BELOW SATISFACTORY: Likely to need substantial support for the next grade

LEVEL 3: SATISFACTORY: May need additional support for the next grade

LEVEL 4: PROFICIENT: Likely to excel in the next grade

LEVEL 5: MASTERY: Highly likely to excel in the next grade
Level 1: INADEQUATE: Highly likely to need support for the next grade

What about Mandatory 3rd Grade Retention?
Third graders who earn a Level 2 or higher 
on FSA READING
will be promoted to 
4th grade.

What about Mandatory 3rd Grade Retention?
Third graders who earn a Level 1
on FSA READING
will be retained

UNLESS...
UNLESS WHAT!?!
 In early May, ALL 3rd graders will take the 
SAT10 reading test.

It will be hand scored at the school.

Students passing the SAT10 will be PROMOTED – regardless of FSA score.
UNLESS WHAT!?!
Students not passing the SAT10 will be invited to attend Summer Camp (SC).

At the end of SC students will take the SAT10 again.

Those passing will be promoted.

Those that do not pass will be retained…UNLESS they score Level 2 or higher on the FSA. 
UNLESS WHAT!?!

Or... Good Cause
Your child is an ESE student and has been previously retained. S/he is Promoted with Good Cause.

OR...

Your child is a 1st Year English Language Learner.       S/he will be promoted with Good Cause.
