In Lesson 
1
We examine the components of cash and net working capital as they change from one year to the next. Our goal is to describe the short -term operating activities of the firm and their impact on cash and working capital.

In Lesson 
2
We define the Operating and cash cycle and examine the relationship between a firm’s operating cycle and the people involved in managing a firm’s current assets and liabilities. We will also calculate the operating cycle and the cash cycle as well as interpret the cash cycle.

We will look at the size of the firm’s investment in current assets and alternative financing policies for current assets. We will also consider the most appropriate amount of short-term borrowing for a firm.

We will explore different components of the cash budget.

We will concentrate on two short term borrowing options, unsecured borrowing and secured borrowing. Short-term secured borrowing occurs when banks and other finance companies require security on short-term debt just as they do for long-term debt. Unsecured borrowing is not backed up by the borrower’s collateral. 
Under unsecure loans, we will cover lines and letters of credit, as well as compensating balances and the costs thereof.
This section will also address the various types of secured loans, particularly accounts receivable financing and inventory loans.
