What is a Quatrain Poem?
What is a Quatrain Poem?
A Quatrain might be a stanza in a longer poem or the entire poem.
Quatrain poems are four line verses that usually rhyme.
What is a Quatrain Poem?
Quatrains can be written using different rhyme scheme patterns.
Rhyme Scheme
 The rhyming patterns in poetry. They tell us which lines rhyme. 
 We mark the end of lines with a capital letter to let us know which lines rhyme.
Lines that are marked with the same capital letter rhyme.
Rhyme Scheme Patterns
The 4 most common rhyme scheme patterns 
AAAA
AABB
ABAB
ABCB
AAAA
All four lines will end with words that rhyme with one another.
Some may like a cat
Wearing a fancy hat
Others may like a rat
Carrying a bat
AAAA
All four lines will end with words that rhyme with one another.

The first two lines rhyme with each other. The next two lines rhyme will rhyme with each other, but NOT with the first two.
ABAB
The lines alternate (every other line) rhyming. Line 1 and 3 rhyme and line 2 and 4 rhyme.
ABCB
In this pattern lines 2 and 4 rhyme with each other, but the other lines do not rhyme.
