Henry Mintzberg (born September 2, 1939) is a Canadian academic and author on business and management

He is currently the Cleghorn Professor of Management Studies at the Desautels Faculty of Management of McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, where he has been teaching since 1968..

The manager’s responsibility for gathering and disseminating information to the stakeholders of the organization: 
*Monitor 
*Disseminator 
*Spokesperson
INFORMATION ROLES
* The monitor role. This role involves seeking, current information from many sources. For example, the manager perpetually scans his environment for information, interrogates liaison contacts and subordinates and receives unsolicited information.

*Seeks out and gathers information relevant to the organization 
*Finding out about legal restrictions on new product technology
DISSEMINATOR
INFORMATION ROLES
*This is where you communicate potentially useful information to your colleagues and your team.
*In their disseminator role, managers pass information to other, both inside and outside the organization.
DISSEMINATOR
*Provides information where it is needed in the organization 
*Providing current production figures to workers on the assembly line

 The spokesperson role. In their spokesman role, managers send some of their information to people outside the organization about company policies, needs, actions, or plans.

Example:
*Transmits information to people outside the organization
 *Representing the company at a shareholders’ meeting
