Quality is not directly proportional to quantity. In other words expensive or sophisticated  equipment will not guarantee you a creative result.

If you are not familiar with recordings then the best way to record your voice or a physical instrument is to use a recording device in a silent environment. Even a single smartphone will do.

You can put an additional voice in your original recording or add a second instrument played by you or a classmate

When you add recordings in a DAW coming from other devices such as smartphones, make sure that these files are recorded on the same  sample rate and bit rate (e.g.: 48000/32bit ) that you have agreed beforehand.
