What is online learning?
Online learning is a mode of learning that takes place on a virtual platform. 
Online learning can take place virtually on Blackboard eLearn, a Padlet wall or MS Teams, or on any other technological platform that you instructor has chosen to support online teaching/learning.
Hmmm... okay...
But how do I participate in online learning? 
There are many ways you can participate in online learning, Jane.
You can participate in a lecture or a discussion that is streamed live online.
Or you can engage with educational videos that your instructor has prepared for you.
Or you can take part in a peer evaluation exercise or any other learning activities that your instructor has planned for you, online.
Hmmm.... What if I don't understand something. How do I ask questions when I am learning online? 
There are many opportunities to ask questions when you are learning online, Jane.
You can ask questions during a live session.
Or you can post questions on a discussion forum.
Or you can post questions on any tech platform that your instructor provides.
For example, your instructor may use online tools like Socrative, Padlet or Slido where you can post questions.
 Or your instructor may use WhatsApp or Facebook as a platform where you can share and ask questions. 
Your questions will signal whether you are doing okay, or you need further help. So please ask questions if you don't understand, okay.
Okay... Hmmm... I don't have a laptop... only a smartphone. Is that okay?
Yes, you can join a live session, watch an educational video, and participate in an online discussion using your smartphone.... 
But I have to say that you may have a better experience if you  use a laptop or a desktop, to access online content.
Because depending on the tech platform that is utilised, some functions don't work on a smartphone. 
 And Jane, you also need a stable internet connection, and a quiet corner so that you can stay focus.
But what if I don't have a good internet connection. Can I still participate in online learning?
Without a good internet connection it may take longer to download a video or...
Your experience with a live session may also be affected if your wi-fi connection is poor.
That is why all instructors are advised to record their live sessions so that students with poor internet connection can download and watch the recorded live session, later.
I am feeling slightly better now... Ms. Simran, can you share with me some tips on how I can learn effectively online?
