Water usage in Sydney

It is important that we understand how much water we are using and what we can do to be more water efficient.
Our main water supply 
comes from the Warragamba dam. It holds up to 2.1 Mega Litres. Last year we used 972 million Litres of it.  
Water Availability
Any Way The Wind Blows
Here in Australia, we have some of the best quality water in the world. Our only problem is availability.

Why?
The water that is put into dams come from many different sources.
Weather or not the water actually gets to our dams depends on different things that affect it's movement through the Earth.
These things could be storms, climate change, wind directions and more.
 This is why in Australia it is important that we do our best to save water.
So what has the government already done?
Water Restrictions
50%
When dam levels reach 50%,
rules are put in place to help conserve water.
The rules put in place can look like this:

-No watering hard surfaces. 
e.g Driveways and pathways

-No cleaning gutters with water

-you cant wash cars between a certain period of time
What Can Sydney Do to Save 
Water ?
Starting at Home
As Australians we know that even the small things make a big difference. So to save water, we can all start in our homes. 
Here's How
Here are some examples on how to save water in your house hold.

-Flush only after number 2s

-Avoid washing your pets if possible

-Cut down your shower times

-Using shower water, cooking water or dirty dishwater to water plants

-Don't shave as often
