NSG 316 
Creative Identity

If you told me I was going to be a nurse when I was younger, I would have never believed you!
I always knew I wanted to work with people, but I tried to steer away from Nursing since I come from a whole family of them. 
One can say I 
Simply fell in 
Love with nursing and I never looked back 
DREAM
The person who really inspired me to become a nurse is my mom 
Watching her work tirelessly on the front lines during COVID was difficult, and I felt a calling at that moment to help 
Mom! 
So, after graduating High School in the height of COVID, I decided to give nursing a try
Stay Safe!
I attended Sandhills Community College 
Unfortunately, I wasn't quite ready for nursing school and got burned out too early. So, I had to step away for a few months to reflect. 
HEALTH
I took this time to relax and reflect on my journey thus far 
While I was away from school, I took the time to work on skills I lacked, such as patient care. So, I worked in a Nursing Home for a year to build my confidence. I learned a lot from that facility, and I'll always remember the people I met during my time there.

When I went back to school, I met amazing friends who helped me through this time. And I finally graduated with my RN this past May! 
After graduation I decided to work in the ED. I chose the speciality because I learned that I thrive in fast paced environments.

Me Now!
I love being a part of interesting cases like strokes and heart attacks, but most importantly I enjoy watching the patients I treat walk out better than when they came in!
Going back to school for my BSN was always the plan after obtaining my RN. Eventually, I want to go back to school for my MSN in education so I can help students who struggled the same way I did in nursing school 
Obtaining my BSN will also help me as an ER Nurse, as the additional education will help me enhance my clinical knowledge and practice, better understand the healthcare system, and strengthen my critical thinking skills.
