SYSTEMATIC
Definition:
What is RESEARCH?

"The studious inquiry or examination; especially: investigation or experimentation aimed at the discovery & interpretation of facts, revision of accepted theories or laws in the light of new facts, or practical application of such new or revised theories or laws."

– Merriam-Webster

PROCESS
7 STEP
This is where you define a research problem. It becomes an Introduction to provide a summary that answers the questions What? Why? How?

What is your research question?

STEP 1

This is your "Lit Review" – a summary about what is known & where there are gaps & about what methods, and underlying theory will be used.

STEP 2

What is known? Are there gaps?

This is where you turn   your research question into a hypothesis  informed by current theory and previous research findings.

STEP 3

What do YOU think?

This is your "Methodology – the "how" of your study. This includes not just the actions, but the rationale of why those methods are appropriate.

What is your research design?

STEP 4

The info you gather and measure should allow you to answer your stated research questions, test hypotheses, & evaluate outcomes.
What data should you collect?

STEP 5

Data analysis involves inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and modeling data to discover useful info, suggest conclusions, and support decision-making.
What did you find?

STEP 6

Data interpretation and reporting is making sense of the info collected, & coming to conclusions about the significance, & implications of the findings..
What does it mean?
