Challenge

As the company has grown and evolved, Organon’s MA&OR team encountered some hurdles in maintaining effective communication across its global teams. With diverse cultures and time zone differences, synchronous communication was sometimes challenging. Additionally, there was a need for a fast, efficient, and engaging method to update teams on new processes or applications that optimize time and resources.

Solution

Bridging Global Teams with Engaging Video Content

Organon’s Medical Affairs and Outcomes Research (MA&OR) team utilizes Powtoon to create animated explainer videos that break down complex medical information into bite-sized, easily digestible pieces, using visuals and voiceovers to boost knowledge retention. As Enrica Buccione, Specialist, Medical Affairs at Organon, explains, "Powtoon helped us improve internal communication by offering engaging asynchronous ways to connect among our global teams. MA&OR teams utilize short videos to communicate new initiatives, share best practices, and train colleagues on new working processes."

Facilitating Peer-to-Peer Learning

With Powtoon, MA&OR developed short, focused videos that employees can watch at their convenience. Buccione continues, "We needed a fast way to update people on new processes or on new applications that could be easily shared, and that didn't take too much time to create or to watch. With Powtoon, we found an in-house video production tool that simplified the creation of educational training videos."

Ensuring Compliance with On-Brand Training Content

"Powtoon's customizable templates allow us to maintain brand consistency effortlessly. We can adapt templates with our brand colors and fonts, ensuring that our videos resonate with our organizational identity," adds Buccione. The Organon MA&OR team is able to quickly update and produce new compliance training videos that are engaging, ensuring that the content is always current and can be easily distributed company-wide while maintaining a consistent brand identity.

The Results

Thanks to Powtoon's vast library of medical scenes, graphics, and animations, MA&OR was able to create a wide range of videos tailored to its needs. Examples include videos on a “Woman's Health Journey,” covering all the health problems that a woman can encounter in the course of her life, and a launch video for a contraceptive counseling chatbot in Latin America.

As Buccione explains, "We have a dedicated Teams channel, called Video Pills, where we have a video library. We also share videos on our department’s SharePoint site.” So far, the team has used Powtoon for education and training, employee engagement, new team introductions, presenting new solutions, announcing upcoming events, and presenting meeting agendas.”

Buccione adds, “Powtoon is intuitive and fairly easy to use. It took me minimal time to get up to speed and feel comfortable with the editing style. Thanks to the wide range of training options to get you started, onboarding new users is also quite quick and easy.”

MA&OR has received enthusiastic feedback from employees on the use of Powtoon videos. According to Buccione, "I had enthusiastic feedback from my colleagues, even when I simply shared a small video at the beginning of a meeting to create some engagement and set the tone. People always appreciate when there is inspirational music, engaging images, or colors."
