How to optimize the effectiveness of your presentations: Quick tip #2
Keeping your audience engaged
When giving a presentation it is imperative that you keep your audience engaged from beginning to end, for that is the mark of an extremely effective presentation. But what is the best way to achieve this? That, my friends, is the question. By using the PowToon platform, coupled with this next quick tip, there is no way that there will be any ZzZzZz’s in the audience during your presentation.
Quick tip #2: Open like you are on Broadway!
Have you ever seen a Broadway show? If you have I bet you weren’t catching up on some shut eye during the performance. Now, I understand that we are not all Broadway actors and actresses, but with a little creativity, innovation, and fun anyone can achieve that same engaging WOW factor. The key is to play to your individual talents and strengths, throw in a bit of creativity, and, of course, have fun, because if you aren’t enjoying giving the presentation, people certainly won’t enjoy watching it.
The goal is to grab your audience right off the bat. Remember, presentations are, in essence, performances, so make them entertaining. The best way to do this is to come up with a very catchy introduction (i.e. a joke, visual accompaniment, music, etc.). Don’t even give them the chance to be bored. Use the introduction to lead into your message, and remember, even serious presentations can be creative and fun.
Here’s an example:
The sleep inducing way to begin a presentation: “Hello and thank you for coming to my presentation. I don’t want to speak too much about my company, but before we begin let me give you some background on what we do…”
The Powtoon method on how to begin a presentation: “If I were to ask you how many times you have used your mobile phone today, you would probably say one of two things…” Something as simple as a question can immediately engage and interest the audience right from the beginning.
